I first worked with Michael in 1981 when he began his engineering apprenticeship at Williams Grand Prix. During this period, Michael worked in the sub-assembly department, rebuilding uprights and brake systems. His exceptionally high standards and attention to detail was immediately apparent and directly contributed to improved reliability across both race and test cars.
Through determination and hard work, Michael progressed after two seasons into the gearbox department, where he built gearboxes for the race and test teams. He also travelled with both teams, providing crucial support as a sub-assembly and gearbox technician.
In 1990, Michael moved to Benetton and, at just 25 years old, successfully managed two departments: Gearbox and Sub-Assembly. Our paths crossed again at Benetton, where his ability and expertise were essential elements to improving reliability within the race team. His contributions played a significant role in the team securing two World Championship titles with Michael Schumacher in 1994 and 1995.
In the past few years Michael has established a top-level engineering and preparation business maintaining the standards he demonstrated when we worked together.
I would highly recommend Michael for any motorsport related project. His professionalism, technical ability, and commitment make him an invaluable asset to support any organisation.
